The owner of the three most popular social media apps, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg, is celebrating the sign up of over 30 million users to his new micro blogging site – Threads.
Posting on his status in successions, Mark announced that Threads user base rose from 2 million, 10 million then 30 million within 24 hours.
The Chief Executive Officer of Facebook wrote,”Wow, 30 million sign ups as of this morning. Feels like the beginning of something special, but we’ve got a lot of work ahead to build out the app.”
Thread, which was launched to rival Twitter, allows users to post up to 500 characters, and has many features similar to Twitter. Its selling point so far seems to be the ability of users to switch their friends from Instagram to Thread.
