The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that beginning from September 29, 2025, all payments at its revenue points will be made digitally.

The new directive covers airport access gates, car parks, as well as VIP and protocol lounges. FAAN explained that the move, which is tagged Operation Go Cashless, is aimed at ensuring efficiency, promoting transparency, and aligning Nigeria’s airports with global best practices in digital transactions.

The system will take off at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. According to FAAN, the initiative will be expanded in phases to other airports across the country.

To drive the transition, FAAN has partnered with Paystack, one of Nigeria’s leading payment technology companies, to power the contactless system. Airport users will also have access to a FAAN Go Cashless Card, which can be obtained at designated points at the airports, activated, and funded online.

The Authority further stated that brand ambassadors would be stationed at gates and terminals to guide travellers, demonstrate how the system works, and respond to inquiries. A dedicated support line, and email address have also been provided for assistance.

FAAN assured the public that the policy will improve service delivery and enhance safety for both airport users and its staff.
