Exclusive! Nigerian Ports Authority Reviews Local Travel Allowance For Staff, Lagos To Abuja Now N250,000

Following the latest increase in Value Added Tax by the Federal Government of Nigeria from 5% to 7.5%, which no doubt will affect the cost of luxury goods and services around the country, the management of Nigerian Ports Authority(NPA) is also reviewing the prices of Local Tickets across the country for its staff and partners to meet with the realities of the time.

In an internal memo exclusively made available to BlackBox Nigeria dated January 24, 2020, the fares for different travels to States within the country where stated.

The memo signed by the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Engr. Adeiza Adams Jatto, had the price for a two-way travel from Lagos to Abuja pegged at N250,000 for business class and N200, 000 for Economy class.

In the same vain, trips from Lagos to Enugu will now amount to the NPA coughing out the sum of N240,000 for business class and N220,000 for Economy class, also from Lagos to Kaduna at N250,000 for business class and N210,000 for Economy respectively.

It is believe that the development is part of the manifestations the new Finance Act 2020, recently signed law by President Muhammadu Buhari, Value Added Tax was moved from 5% to 7.5%.

Even though the price before the review was not made available, current air ticket from Lagos to Abuja at the peak period is between N35,000 to N50,000 and can be as low as N25,000 if the booking is done ahead of time.
