The Lagos State Government in its commitment to develop Lagos into a twenty first century digital economy and Smart City, has handed out grants from the Lagos State Science Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) to successful applicants.
In his remarks, at the LASRIC Grant Award Ceremony held at the Conference Room, Lagos House Ikeja, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that in December 2019 his administration inaugurated the Lagos State Research and Innovation Council with a seed fund of two hundred and fifty million naira.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said he had no doubt that the applications had gone through a thorough review process, overseen by the Council, made up of some of Nigeria’s most experienced and successful technology entrepreneurs, academics, and public servants.
He commended members of the Council for delivering their mandate and meeting the timeline for the presentation of grants to the first set of beneficiaries while assuring of Governments support to achieve the goal of building a smart, inclusive and resilient economy.
Blackbox Nigeria reports that the event saw 22 entrepreneurs and tech-preneurs benefit from the grant award, being the first pilot phase.
