The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Management Council, Abdulmumin Jibrin has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP).
It would be recalled that Jibrin, a former member of the House of Representatives, announced his departure from the ruling party, saying he would disclose his new political party soon.
“I have done my best for APC. Its time to move on. I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours insha Allah. I will make a formal statement in due course. Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin,” he tweeted last Saturday.
Reactions since trailed the development, leaving many to wonder what Jibrin’s defection would mean for the presidential bid of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a swift move, the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje made moves to stop the defection of the ex-federal lawmaker from the APC, by summoning a stakeholder meeting to discuss the political situation in the Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency where Jibrin hails from.
However, it appears the Jibrin stuck to his guns as he was reported to have joined the NNPP, a new political front led by a former Kano governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
According to pictures exclusively obtained by BlackBox Nigeria, the ex-lawmaker was recently received by the leadership of the new party in Kano State.
