Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Joseph Yobo, has returned to the classroom as a student of Sports Management at the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Lagos.
This, he said, is in a bid to enhance his knowledge and become a certified sports administrator.
Yobo made the revelation on Monday during an inspection tour of the institute by members of the NIS Advisory Committee led by the Director General, Mr. Philip Shaibu.
The committee visited several facilities, including the hostel, library, gyms, offices, and conference rooms of the 51-year-old institution.
Speaking from his classroom, Yobo highlighted the importance of formal education in sports administration, even for those with practical experience on the field.
“From my background as a former player and a coach, I want to have the requisite experience and certification in sports management and administration,” Yobo said.
“I believe that as a sports person, there is no knowledge too small. I need to widen my mindset from the school.”
Yobo, who captained the Nigerian national team and later served as assistant coach, is part of a growing number of sports professionals who seek certification for to pursue their dreams.
