Ex-beauty queen surrenders after 8 months of escaping arrest in Lagos

Former beauty queen Aderinoye Queen Christmas, who had been on the run since January, surrendered to the Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, confirmed her surrender in a statement on Sunday.

“The suspect was Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and the founder of Queen Christmas Foundation,” Babafemi stated.

Aderinoye, previously known as Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, escaped capture after NDLEA raided her residence in Lekki, Lagos State, acting on intelligence linking her to drug trafficking according to Sources.

During the raid at her Oral Estate apartment, authorities seized evidence including 606 grams of Canadian Loud (a synthetic cannabis strain), an electronic weighing scale, drug packaging materials, a black RAV 4 SUV with license plate Lagos KSF 872 GQ, and personal items.

According to Babafemi, Aderinoye stated she had been hiding in Akure, Ondo State, since fleeing Lekki. She surrendered to the agency on Wednesday, August 28th.

In addition to Aderinoye’s surrender, NDLEA reported a drug interceptions amounting to N17.9 billion in Lagos and Rivers States. At Onne and Tincan seaports, authorities intercepted a total of 31,124,600 pills of tramadol 225mg and bottles of codeine-based syrup.
