Thomas Partey, the former Arsenal and Ghanaian international midfielder, has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old faces five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault against a third woman, with alleged incidents occurring between April 2021 and June 2022.

During the brief court appearance, Partey confirmed his identity and acknowledged understanding the bail conditions, which prohibit him from contacting the complainants and require him to inform police of any permanent address changes or international travel.

His next court date is scheduled for September 2 at the Old Bailey.

The charges stem from a three-year investigation initiated in February 2022 after an initial report of rape was filed.

The alleged offences reportedly took place at Partey’s residence in North London and at a hotel in Marbella, Spain.

Partey denies all allegations and has cooperated fully with authorities throughout the investigation.

Partey’s contract with Arsenal expired at the end of June 2025, after making over 130 appearances for the club since his £45 million transfer from Atlético Madrid in 2020.

He is reportedly close to signing a two-year deal with Spanish club Villarreal, having undergone a medical.

His bail conditions do not prevent him from continuing his football career.

The Metropolitan Police and the Crown Prosecution Service have emphasized the importance of a fair trial and have urged the public to avoid commentary that might prejudice proceedings.
