Everyone Is A Suspect- Nigeria Police Force Declares, Supports Random Searching By Officers
The Nigeria Police Force has declared that every of Nigeria is a suspect when it comes to their operation as anyone is subjected to searching when encountered on the road. This declaration has since raised questioning of the training being embedded in the officers of the security arm.
The declaration was made by the verified Twitter handle of the Police which is being controlled from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The handle of the account was responding to a thread on Twitter by some Nigerians who were worried at the way some officers of the Force brandish weapons to citizens who go about their business. The response has since left many mouth opened to imagine the orientation given to the Law enforcers as they go about their constitutional duty.
Above is the tweet by a concerned Nigeria who called out the Force to caution it’s officers on how they go about their duties but the response he got left him to school the handler real policing.
According to the response of the Police as seen above, every Nigerian is a suspect who is subject to thorough search by officers whenever they come across them.
This declaration is however contradictory to an order given by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris who earlier this year instructed that Police officers are not to search personal effects, such as mobile phones of Nigerians when they stop them on the road.
