By Evans Pleaded Guilty Because He Was Brainwashed- Defence Counsel, Ogungbeje Discloses
Controversial lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje has accused the officers of the Nigeria Police Force of brainwashing billionaire kidnapper, Evans which prompted him to plead guilty during the Court hearing on Wednesday. Ogungbeje alleged that his client was being ignorant about the plea which was read to him.
It will be recalled that Evans alongside his accomplices, four of them were arraigned at the Ikeja division of Lagos High Court before Justice Hakeem Oshodi.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the Court was heavily guarded to prevent an incident which happened when a notorious kidnapper popularly called Vampire was presented in Court. It will be recalled that his gang members stormed the Owerri Court in Imo State and rescued him from the premises before the hearing started.
Ogungbeje while speaking with the press after Evans pleaded guilty to the two count charges of kidnapping and murder, disclosed that his client answered the plea based on his ignorance as he has not been avail for briefing with his legal team. He also said he may be under duress to accept the charges.
He stated that Evans has been held for too long by the Police and they have been availed the opportunity to brainwash him before he was presented before Justice Oshodi.
It will be recalled that Evans after he was arrested in Lagos was transferred to Police Headquarters in Abuja, a development that raised dusts in the social media as to why he was being moved. He was later transported back to Lagos where he was arraigned in Court as the State where he committed the crime.
