The European Union (EU) has debunked a viral statement calling for the election result and the disqualification of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.
The EU dunked the viral statement on its twitter page where it tagged it as fake news.
Part of the debunked statement reads, “The European Union (EU), in partnership with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and International Republican Institute (IRI), expresses deep concom regarding the recently concluded Nigerian national election, which was marred by numerous cases of electoral malpractice, lack of transparency and constitutional operational failures. This is a clear violation of democratic principles and undermines the credibility and legitimacy of the election. An electoral process should be free, fair and transparent.
“The Democracy Review Office for the EU recommends the following actions be taken to address the situation
1. The step down of the sitting INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu
2. A review of the election result and implementation of corrections OR the conduct of a supplementary election
3. The disqualification of the president-elect and presidential candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for gross electoral misconduct as stipulated in the Nigerian constitution.”
