Super Eagles Head coach Eric Chelle has declared his ambition to win the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, expressing confidence in his team’s ability to compete for the continent’s biggest football prize.
Chelle made the vow while speaking about his long-term vision, stressing that winning the AFCON title remains the ultimate goal of his project.
According to him, the focus is on building a disciplined, competitive and mentally strong team capable of standing up to Africa’s best sides when the tournament is staged in 2027.
The coach said success will not come overnight, noting that careful planning, hard work and consistency are required to achieve the target. He explained that his approach will centre on improving tactical organisation, developing players’ confidence and fostering a winning mentality within the squad.
Chelle also emphasised the importance of unity and commitment from players, officials and supporters, adding that collective effort will be key to turning the ambition into reality.
He said every match, whether competitive or friendly, will be treated as part of the preparation towards the 2027 AFCON.
While acknowledging the strength of other African teams, the coach maintained that his side has the quality and potential to challenge for the title if properly guided and supported.
