Enough Is Enough group retracts statement on Lekki Shooting

The Enough Is Enough group (EiE) has retracted a post on Twitter where it accused a staff of Lekki Construction Company (LCC) of removing cameras at the Lekki toll gate in a premeditated attempt to cover what was termed massacre.

In a post on Twitter, the group wrote “This was an error.

These cameras are not CCTV cameras but license plate verification cameras. They were removed to prevent vandalization after @jidesanwoolu announced the curfew. He has said the CCTV footage is intact. We apologise for the error.”

The picture earlier posted Reports a man hours before the Lekki Toll-Gate massacre showing that he removed the CCTV cameras.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier debunked the controversial  information.

In an interview session with Arise TV, the governor said the  cameras were not CCTV cameras but license plate verification cameras.

They were removed to prevent vandalization after the declaration of the curfew.

Sanwo-Olu added that the CCTV footage is intact , as well as the Toll Surveillance Cameras, adding that the footage Will be Made Available to Panel.
