English For Today (August 20, 2018) By Ganiu Abisoye Bamgbose (GAB)
Note:
Pipe down and don’t disturb me (not, pipe low). Pipe down is used to say that one should stop talking and be quiet. It’s originally a naval expression.
We need one and a half hours more (not, hour). Plural doesn’t mean two; it’s anything more than one.
She frowns (not, She frowns her face) What other part of her body could she have frowned?
I saw him myself (not, I saw him with my two eyes or my two naked eyes).
