Let me remind you of 10 expressions that will be ungrammatical without “s”
1. My house is just a stone’s throw from here (not, stone throw).
2. First among equals (not, first among equal).
3. Flex your muscles (not, muscle).
4. First things first (not, first thing).
5. Pay in instalments (not, instalment).
6. She went to the extremes (not, extreme).
7. She speaks in tongues (not, in tongue).
8. Visit the accounts department (not, account department).
9. She’s on wheels (not, on a wheel).
10. The man behind the scenes (not, behind the scene).
