EndSARS: United Nations Call On IGP Idris To Investigate Allegations On Police Officers

The United Nations has reacted to the continuous campaign against some officers of the Nigeria Police Force, especially operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The campaign has since birthed the popular #EndSARS and #EndSARSBrutality phrases.

Speaking on behalf of the General Secretary of the UN in Lagos, Mr Edward Kallon called on the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris mni to carry out open investigation on all allegations mentioned against the operatives of the SARS and other Officers.

It will be recalled that the Police spokesperson, Mr Jimoh Moshood had alleged that the people behind the #EndSARS campaign were armed robbers and also mischievous politicians who were been haunted by the SARS operatives. Mr Moshood alleged that the officers have been up to their duties as they continue to help curb crimes.

But a former Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Archbishop, Rev. Chris Omeben moments ago validated the campaign against Police officers. The former Police chief while speaking on a television program disclosed that he can confirm some atrocities of the officers which Nigerians are currently clamouring against.

He also added that there was no need for the creation of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad as there existed an arm for anti-robbery in the Police Force. He disclosed that the Anti-Robbery Squad were very efficient before the new SARS were inaugurated.
