Protesters at the Lekki toll gate have taken to their heels following the intervention of the police to quell the #EndSARS memorial protests on Wednesday.
It was gathered that armed operatives also forced Arise TV reporters to take down their drones.
Recall that plans for the #EndSARSMemorial peaceful protest had been circulated online, saying that interested protesters would drive through the Lekki toll gate blaring their horns in uniformity while waving the Nigerian flag to act as a sign of remembrance of victims of last year’s massacre.
However, our correspondent learnt that police have started firing teargas canisters at peaceful protesters, forcing many to flee for their lives.
As at the time of filing this report, over 10 protesters have been arrested at the protest ground.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government had claimed that there was no evidence that it was responsible for the now-infamous massacre at the Lekki toll gate, adding that the allegations are false.
