The Lagos State chairman of Garages Management Committee, Musliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo has asserted that the killing of EndSARS protesters at Lekki Tollgate could not be traced to the All Progressives Congress aspirant, Bola Tinubu.
He continued that it is a political game by the aspirant’s counterparts in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP,Atiku and Labour Party of Peter Obi.
Oluomo reiterated that it would be impossible for there to be killing and the family of the deceased will not show up to ask for the body, nor found the body where it happened.
Oluomo made this known on Sunday during a rally organised by him to support his candidate, Bola Tinubu and the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu.
He said, “Where are the bodies and where are they buried? Do they have relatives in Nigeria? Has Nigeria bribed the mothers of the deceased protesters? Why are their siblings not searching for them, even on social media? Or is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu a Chief of Army Staff or President who will order the killing of protesters at the (Lekki) Tollgate?”
“They’re lying to us, they want to undermine the Yorubas, everyone should come out. It is a political game. It was Atiku and Obi that conspired to do all those things then.”
In October 2020, a large number of young people marched out to the roads in Nigeria and the diaspora, fighting extra-judicial killing by the police, especially by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Following the shooting at Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020, a Legal Board was set up by the state government to explore petitions on police ruthlessness in the state.
The board submitted two reports — one on police fierceness cases and one more on the Lekki incident Investigation.
The board recorded 10 fatalities emerging from the shooting by the Nigerian Military at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020. It additionally suggested the redeployment and arraignment of the Divisional Cop of Maroko Police headquarters, for the erratic shooting and killing of dissidents.
Meanwhile, the report had since been a subject of debate, particularly with the National Government dismissing the board report for irregularities.
