#EndBadGovernance Protest: Protesters Vandalize NCC Office in Kano

 

Violence has erupted during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano as demonstrators targeted the Northern Regional Office of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), vandalizing the facility and looting equipment worth billions of naira.

The NCC office, representing the northwestern region of Nigeria, is located along State Road. According to reports, equipment worth billions of naira, set to be commissioned on August 7, was looted during the incident.

In addition to the looting, the perpetrators also set ablaze two vehicles parked at the State High Court premises.

During the vandalism spree, vehicle screens were smashed, drivers harassed, and mobile phones snatched from pedestrians.

The press was also affected by the unrest, as violent protesters targeted journalists, the official bus of Channels Television was vandalized, with its windscreen smashed, affecting journalists covering the protest.

However, The police in Kano have arrested 13 suspects for vandalizing vehicles at the Kano State High Court premises. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Salma Dogo, confirmed the arrests, stating that proactive security measures are in place to ensure the safety of residents both within and outside the metropolis.

“We urge residents to cooperate with security personnel by providing intelligence on any individuals or groups found in possession of dangerous weapons,” Dogo emphasized. “This collaboration is crucial to maintaining law and order in the state.”
