Elon Musk Expresses Regret Over Trump Criticism Amid GOP Spending Bill Dispute

Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk has expressed regret over a series of fiery public criticisms directed at former U.S. President Donald Trump, following a heated social media clash between the two last week.

Taking to his platform X on Wednesday, Musk acknowledged that some of his recent posts about Trump “went too far.”

“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote.

The apology comes in the wake of escalating tensions between the two influential figures.

The feud erupted last Thursday after Musk lambasted Trump’s support for a massive federal spending bill, describing the measure as fiscally irresponsible and politically damaging.

Musk, known for his outspoken views and growing political influence, had reportedly been approached by Republican lawmakers opposing the bill to help fund primary challenges against GOP members who vote in favor of it.

Trump, in turn, responded sharply in an interview with NBC News on Saturday, calling Musk “disrespectful” and warning of “serious consequences” should the billionaire proceed with his rumored political funding plans.

Musk, who once served as an advisor during Trump’s presidency and was a major GOP donor in the last election cycle, has increasingly positioned himself as a power broker in conservative circles.

His remarks about the big spending bill, a term Trump used to describe it sparked backlash among Trump loyalists and fueled speculation about a growing rift between the two.

While Musk has not clarified what prompted his change in tone, his statement suggests a desire to de-escalate the conflict.
