Armed attackers have kidnapped Mohamed Fouani, a prominent figure in electronics distribution through Fouani Group, and at least two others during an attack in Ikoyi, Lagos on Friday, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Multiple sources report that the incident occurred near Falomo Bridge. Fouani Group, managed by Mohamed Fouani and other notable Lebanese business figures, is a major distributor of LG and Hisense products in Nigeria. The company has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
Sources indicate that the abductors have demanded a ransom of $1.5 million from individuals close to the victims. The Gazette could not independently verify this demand or confirm its origin from the abductors.
A police source in Lagos acknowledged that the incident could unsettle the command, which had previously boasted about its ability to curb kidnap-for-ransom activities throughout the state, despite their escalation in other parts of the country.
