Elder Statesman, Edwin Clark Dies at 97

Edwin Clark, a prominent former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South leader, has passed away at the age of 97.

The news of his death was confirmed by a statement issued by his family on Monday, 17th February, 2025.

According to the statement signed by Prof. C. C. Clark on behalf of the Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, the respected elder statesman passed away late Monday night.

The statement expressed the family’s gratitude for the prayers and support during this difficult time, stating: “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday 17th February, 2025. The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family.”

Edwin Clark was a key figure in Nigeria’s political and social landscape, known for his advocacy for the rights of the Niger Delta region and his leadership in the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).
