Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, says he and other opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have the political capacity to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on a Channels Television programme on Sunday, El-Rufai claimed his insider knowledge of the APC having been one of its founding members gives him an advantage in strategising against the ruling party.
“We formed the APC; we know where the dead body is buried. Some of them, like Atiku, know where the PDP’s dead body is buried. Together we can face the APC. We don’t need to have totally different people from nowhere to challenge APC,” he said.
The former governor also criticised the Tinubu administration, saying Nigeria’s economy and security have deteriorated since the president assumed office.
El-Rufai, Atiku, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and other political figures have recently aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of an opposition coalition seeking to wrest power from the APC in 2027.
