Eko Boys’ Humbles Perennial Rival Birch Freeman In Commemoration Of Their 105 Anniversary

Eko Boys Senior High School of Mushin defeated Long time rival Birch Freeman secondary school of Surulere 3 – 1 inside the main bowl of Eko Boys’ football pitch in commemoration of the 105 founders day celebration.

The Game started on an emotional note for the host as Birch Freeman Secondary school drew first blood in the game through a stunning  long distance short by Shehu. The coordination of the visitors was crystal clear for all to see as their attackers caused the Ekorians all sort of troubles in the first half.

After Making series of long distance saves notably from Ishola Bashir And John Fayemi, it took something special from last season’s LAFGEHCA hotshot Segun Fagbamila to beat the Birch Freeman shot stopper. The midfield maestro pegged the visitors back via an acrobatic finish.

With the Principal of the school, Mr Adeoye Adebowale cheering on the team from the sideline and after several tactical changes, The giants of Mushin got in front for the first time in the game through an audacious finish by central back, Ogbonna to make the game 2 – 1.

The giants of Surulere, which incidentally is the Alma mater of the Honorable minister of works, power and housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola SAN threw all their players forward in search of an equalizing goal with less than five minutes to play only to lose the ball to the Ekorians.

Enthusiastic Winger, Ishola Basit had to run from midfield with accelerated pace to face the goal keeper in a one on one situation which he converted in scintillating Fashion to take the game beyond the reach of the Boys from Surulere. The game ended 3 – 1 with the celebrants coming out on top and the old boys will have to thank the present boys for keeping the Ekorians tradition.

Eko Boys’ Senior High School will now shift their focus to the LAFGEHCA Cup where they will face Western College, Yaba on Tuesday, 16th January, 2018 to try and retrieve a trophy they last won in 2014.
