The governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has cast his ballot in the ongoing gubernatorial election in the state.
Fayemi who was accompanied by his wife, Bisi, arrived his polling unit in Ward 11, Isan-Ekiti to exercise his franchise on Saturday morning.
Speaking with journalists moments after he voted, the governor commended the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the exercise as “peaceful”.
In a later statement posted on his verified Twitter page, the governor called on all eligible voters to come out to perform their civic duty and exercise their right to choose their leadership.
He also reminded the people of Ekiti that the state remains theirs to build irrespective of their different political allegiances.

“This morning, I cast my vote at my polling unit in Ward 11, Isan-Ekiti. I call on all eligible voters to come out to perform their civic duty & exercise their right to choose their leadership. You are enjoined to comply with the electoral rules and regulations,” the statement read.
“I urge all of us to remain vigilant and to accord the security agencies and other relevant authorities our full cooperation. The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
“I wish to remind us that regardless of our partisan allegiances, we are all sons and daughters of this great state. Ekiti is ours to dwell in and build together. Let us vote to perpetuate our land’s heritage of honour and harmony. Ekiti a gbe wa o!”
