Results have started to trickle in from the various polling units in Ekiti State as residents came out on Saturday morning to elect a new governor.
BlackBox Nigeria had reported the three major contenders for the Ado-Ekiti seat — Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Meanwhile, the outgoing governor, Kayode Fayemi has won his polling unit for the APC.
In Unit 09, Ogilolo Ward in Isan-Ekiti, Oye Local Government of the state where Fayemi cast his vote, the ruling party garnered 154 votes, while SDP and PDP scored 3 and 4 votes respectively.
In a related development, the APC governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji also won the polling unit of the PDP senator, Biodun Olujimi.
In PU 7, Ward 7, Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti-east LGA, the APC got 141 votes, followed by the PDP with 110 votes, as the SDP placed third with 46 votes.
Segun Oni, the SDP candidate, won his polling unit in Ward 2, Ido-Osi. According to the result, SDP scored 218 votes, followed by APC with 15 votes and APP with 3 votes. The PDP and NNPP both secured 2 votes, while ADP had just one vote in the polling unit.
The PDP candidate, Bisi Kolawole also emerged victorious in Ward 8, Unit 1, Efon Alaye, in Efon Local Government Area, where, he earlier cast his vote.
He polled 98 votes, while APC got 13 votes, Labour Party with 1 vote, and SDP with two votes.
