Eight Nigerians arrested for killing six policemen

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested eight suspected believe to involved in killing of six of its officers in Ughelli, Delta State.
According to a statement released by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) on Saturday, eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the gruesome ambush attacks on two different occasions.
The arrests follow intensive investigative efforts aimed at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the incidents that occurred on February 23, 2023, and February 26, 2023. In both instances, officers were ambushed while on fact-finding and rescue missions, resulting in the death of six policemen, with six others still missing.
Initially, five suspects were apprehended shortly after the incidents. Subsequently, three additional suspects were arrested at different locations, following information obtained from the initially arrested individuals.
“The Nigeria Police is deeply saddened by the heinous act of violence against our officers who were diligently performing their duty to protect and serve the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen officers during this difficult time,” part of the statement reads.
“We wish to reiterate that killers of our officers in this extant case, and many others, have murdered peace, and none of them will go unpunished,” it added.
