Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have raided the Green Legacy Hotel, located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) premises in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several individuals suspected of internet fraud. The early morning operation disrupted an ongoing pool party at the hotel.

Eyewitnesses reported that EFCC operatives arrived without warning, prompting chaos among attendees as sporadic gunshots rang out. Viral videos from the scene captured partygoers fleeing in multiple directions to avoid arrest.

According to sources, the anti-graft agency seized over 20 luxury vehicles along with other high-value items during the raid. The exact number of suspects initially taken into custody was undisclosed, but subsequent updates revealed that 93 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested. Recovered items included 18 vehicles, 89 mobile phones, laptops, and several incriminating documents.

The EFCC stated that the arrests followed credible intelligence, and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations.

This operation comes just five days after the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested 55 suspected internet fraudsters at K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, where two locally-made pistols were also recovered.

One eyewitness, identified as A. Ayomide, shared on social media:

“Literally left my house past midnight to go to OOPL, got there and the crowd was too much. I don’t like the settings, my guy doesn’t like the settings, so we were just at the car park. Left around 1:30, 20 minutes later I get home and I’m getting calls that EFCC is raiding OOPL.”
