On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over a 750-unit luxury housing estate seized from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, announced that the housing units will be sold to interested Nigerian buyers through a clear and competitive process.

The sale will be promoted extensively and overseen through the Renewed Hope Portal.

The EFCC investigation into the property began last year, leading to a civil forfeiture due to suspicions of illegitimate ownership.

This development marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to recover assets acquired through illicit means.

The luxury estate, which comprises over 750 duplexes, will be made available to Nigerians, with the government seeking to recoup its investment.

The ministry will ensure a transparent and accountable process in the sale of the housing units.
