The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Olasijibomi Suji Ogundele, Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, wanted over alleged diversion of funds and money laundering.
In a statement signed by EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the agency called on members of the public with useful information about Ogundele’s whereabouts to contact any of its zonal offices across the country or the nearest police station.
According to the EFCC notice, Ogundele, a 44-year-old indigene of Ori-Ade Local Government Area of Osun State, was last known to reside at G29, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Sujimoto is one of Nigeria’s most prominent luxury real-estate developers, known for high-rise residential projects such as Lucrezia and Leonardo Towers in Ikoyi. Ogundele has been a high-profile figure in Nigeria’s property sector, often promoting ambitious developments targeting the premium market.
In December 2024, Ogundele was arrested by the Nigerian Police Force’s Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) on allegations of defrauding a client of $325,000 in a real estate transaction. He was later granted bail while police concluded their investigation into the case.
The EFCC did not disclose details of the alleged diverted funds or the sums involved but stated that Ogundele is required for questioning in connection with its ongoing investigation.
The EFCC’s declaration signals that Ogundele may be arrested once located. Legal analysts note that a “wanted” notice does not amount to a conviction but is a step toward compelling a suspect to appear before investigators.
The Commission urged Nigerians to cooperate by providing any information that could assist in locating him as investigations continue.
