Ebuka set ablaze, killed in South African xenophobic attack
A Nigerian man, Clement Ebuka Nwaogu has been killed in a xenophobic attack in South Africa. Ebuka was burnt alive by an angry mob over aggravated allegations in Rustenburg, North West Province of South Africa.
Clement Ebuka Nwaogu is the latest victim of xenophobia which has become one of the negatives of the former apartheid nation.
The murder of Ebuka was announced by the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Habib Miller, who disclosed that the victim, a native of Njikoka in Anambra was attacked and killed by a mob in Rustenburg, North West Province.

Mr Miller revealed that the victim was murdered in cold blood over his accent and habit, which the mobsters said was offensive.
“The mob descended on him like a common criminal with all sorts of dangerous weapons in the presence of South African police officers,” he said.
Ebuka was before his death an upholsterer in South Africa.
Miller disclosed further that “eyewitnesses say the victim beckoned for help from the police to intervene and help him, but they turned a blind eye. When Ebuka could no longer persevere, he ran for safety; the mob chased and caught him, poured petrol on him and set him ablaze,” he said.
Ebuka later died at Job Shimankane Hospital.
