Veteran Nigerian music legend, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, has firmly dismissed widespread rumours of his death.

He affirmed this in a video message that he is alive, strong, and in good health.

The false report, which surfaced on Monday, quickly spread across social media, sparking concern and premature condolence messages from fans and well-wishers.

However, the Juju music legend swiftly countered the claims with a lively video posted on Tuesday, in which he addressed the rumour head-on.

“Hello, my name is Professor Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi,” he began, before breaking into song in Yoruba, English, and Pidgin.

“Satan, you don lose o, you don pafuka. Na lie lie you dey talk,” he sang, clearly dismissing the rumour with characteristic energy and humour.

In the video, Obey clarified:
“It is fake news that started a few hours ago claiming that I, Evangelist Obey, have passed on to glory. It is a lie. I am alive, and that is not the word Jesus has written.”

His personal assistant, Tope Olukole, also addressed the situation during a live interview on TVC, reassuring the public:
“Let’s be clear: Ebenezer Obey is alive and thriving. He even recently joined his family to celebrate his second child’s spouse’s 50th birthday. Rumours of his passing are baseless and entirely unfounded.”

The hoax came less than a month after the legendary musician marked his 83rd birthday, making the timing of the rumour all the more unsettling for fans.

With this bold and public rebuttal, Obey has once again proven not only his resilience but also his enduring presence in the hearts of many, using music to dispel fear and reaffirm life.
