What was meant to be a moment of triumph turned into a dramatic scene at the 2025 Headies Awards, as fast-rising star OdumoduBlvck had his acceptance speech abruptly cut off after winning the coveted “Next Rated” award.
OdumoduBlvck, one of the most talked-about talents this year, took the stage amid roaring applause to receive the prestigious honor, often seen as a launchpad to stardom.
However, just moments into his speech during which he passionately began thanking his fans, team, and hinting at the struggles he faced to reach the spotlight, the organizers shockingly interrupted him, cutting off his microphone.
The unexpected move left the audience inside the Landmark Event Centre stunned, with murmurs and visible confusion filling the room.
Clips of the moment quickly went viral online, sparking outrage among fans who accused the Headies organizers of disrespecting the artist and dimming a pivotal moment in his career.
“I don’t understand how you honor someone and then silence them while they are speaking their truth,” one fan tweeted.
While others called for the award organizers to issue a public apology.
Neither OdumoduBlvck nor the Headies committee had officially commented as of Monday morning.
Despite the drama, OdumoduBlvck’s victory cements his position as one of the new leaders of Nigerian music.
