The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former senator and governorship candidate of Kogi state, Dino Melaye over alleged anti-party activities.

Melaye’s suspension by the PDP executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, came after he refused to attend a summons according to reports

The Ward Party Executive Committee of the PDP in Ayetoro/lluagba Ward 1 announced the suspension, stating that Melaye, who is from Ayetoro/lluagba Ward 1 in Ijumu Local Government of Kogi, was notified of a disciplinary committee meeting in August but failed to appear.

In a memo dated September 12, the ward executive committee reiterated that Melaye’s failure to attend the disciplinary committee meeting constituted a gross disrespect to the party and its leadership.

“However, he failed to show up, disregarding the invitation and the authority of the party.
“After careful consideration and deliberation, the Ward Party Exco resolved as follows: That Senator Dino Melaye’s failure to appear before the Disciplinary Committee constitutes a gross disrespect to the party and its leadership.” the meno reads.

Melaye has not yet made any public statement regarding his suspension.

Other party figures, such as former Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, have also faced disciplinary actions in recent months for alleged anti-party activities.
