Don’t judge internet fraudsters, says singer Bella Shmurda

Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Ahmed Akinbiyi popularly known as Bella Shmurda has asked people not to judge internet fraudsters aka ‘Yahoo boys’.

In a recent interview with Echoo Room, the ‘Cash App’ crooner argued that every person is pursuing a means to succeed in their lives, therefore internet fraudsters shouldn’t be singled out for criticisms.

When asked whether he was ever involved in internet fraud, the singer failed to give a straightforward answer.

“I didn’t say I didn’t do it, though. Just shoutout to everybody. Everybody is looking to make ends meet. So you can’t just blame anybody. This part of the world where we find ourselves is messed up,” he said.

Bella Shmurda noted that not all ‘Yahoo boys’ are comfortable with swindling unsuspecting people, adding that the economic hardship in Nigeria has made life difficult for many youths.

He said, “It’s painful that you just have to get money by every possible means. It isn’t everybody’s wish (to engage in internet fraud). If some people that got their money through that means aren’t happy with it. It’s painful, not something to be proud of. But you just have to be make it.

“You can’t have kids and be telling them that you’re poor because you refused to join others to find wealth by every means. What kind of explanation is that? If your kids notice that things aren’t going well for you, they will ask certain questions.”
