A shocking case of attempted murder has occured in Royal Gardens Estate, Lekki, where a domestic cook, Cletus Akaninyene Joseph, allegedly poisoned his boss’s food with an arsenic-based substance.
Joseph, who was employed through a domestic employment agency, started working for his boss on January 25, 2025. Just two days later, the boss, a middle-aged man, began experiencing heart condition symptoms, including rapid and missed heartbeats.
Despite undergoing various medical tests, the cause of his illness remained a mystery until a toxicology test was conducted on a Thursday. The test revealed that Joseph had been slowly poisoning his boss’s dinner with an arsenic-based substance.
In a shocking turn of events, Joseph vanished into thin air on the same day the toxicology test was conducted, stealing several items from the house. He refused to answer calls from his boss or the employment agency.
The case took a more turn when the toxicology results were released the following Monday, confirming the presence of arsenic in the boss’s system.
The police are currently investigating the case, and progress is being made.
