Nigerian disc jockey and producer, DJ Spinall, delivered a spectacular cultural performance at the 2026 edition of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, captivating global audiences with a showcase of the iconic Eyo masquerade.

During his set at the globally renowned festival held in Indio, California, Spinall introduced performers dressed in white flowing robes and wide-brimmed hats which shows distinctive features of the Eyo masquerade, a revered cultural symbol of Lagos.

The appearance of the Eyo, traditionally associated with royal ceremonies and cultural celebrations in Lagos, drew excitement from festival-goers and quickly gained traction on social media, with clips of the performance circulating widely.

Spinall, whose real name is Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, has continued to position himself as a cultural ambassador for Afrobeats on the global stage.

He previously made history as the first Afrobeats DJ to perform at Coachella, reinforcing his role in exporting Nigerian music and heritage internationally.

Fans say the inclusion of the Eyo masquerade reflects a growing trend among Nigerian artists who are blending traditional elements with contemporary music performances to showcase indigenous culture to global audiences.

The 2026 Coachella festival, one of the world’s biggest music events, features a diverse lineup of international stars and continues to serve as a major platform for cross-cultural artistic expression. It also features Wizkid and Tems performance with Justin Bieber on the collaborative project, ‘Essence’.

Spinall’s performance, however, stood out for its cultural symbolism, bringing a piece of Lagos tradition to the desert stage of California and reinforcing Afrobeats’ expanding global footprint.
