The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande has passed away at the age of 91.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the nonagenarian revalidated his APC membership yesterday afternoon.
He later complained of a slight fever around 11pm on Wednesday night, before he gave up the ghost in the early hours of Thursday.
Born on 29 July 1929 in the Epetedo area of Lagos Island, Jakande would have clocked 92 on the 24th July. Both of his parents are from Omu- Aran, Kwara state.
His son, Seyi is the present Vice Chairman of Odi Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA. His second son Deji is a former member of the House of Representatives.
Jakande was governor between 1979 and 1983. He would be remembered as one of the best state governors Nigeria has ever produced with structural achievements which are still visible 38 years after leaving office.
