British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua has defied recent professional setbacks to emerge as the second richest athlete in the United Kingdom, according to the newly released 2025 Sunday Times Rich List.

Despite suffering a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium last September and enduring a temporary pause in his career due to minor injuries, Joshua’s financial fortunes have soared higher.

His net worth has increased by €24 million in the last year alone, climbing from €208 million to an impressive €232 million.

This financial leap places the former two-time heavyweight world champion ahead of England football captain Harry Kane, whose net worth stands at €117 million, and fellow boxer Tyson Fury, despite the latter being named the highest-paid boxer of 2024 by Sportico.

Joshua ranks 24th among the UK’s wealthiest under-40s and is now the second richest athlete in the country, trailing only golf superstar Rory McIlroy, whose net worth is €304 million.

Known for commanding massive paydays, Joshua reportedly earned around €29 million from his bout with Ngannou last year and banked a further €29 million in his fight against Dubois.

His strong earnings are also driven by high-value endorsement deals, placing him alongside Jake Paul as one of boxing’s top earners in sponsorships.

While he did not break into the top 20 highest-paid global athletes in 2024, Joshua secured the 30th spot with total annual earnings of $60 million (€56 million), including $50 million (€47 million) in prize money and fight purses.
