Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, has withdrawn his corruption petition against Engineer Farouk Ahmed, the former CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The petition, submitted in December 2025 through his legal counsel O.J. Onoja (SAN), accused Farouk of financial misconduct, including claims that he spent over $7 million funding the education of his four children in Switzerland, allegedly beyond his official earnings.
Despite the withdrawal formally received by the agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed it will proceed with its investigations. In a statement on Wednesday, ICPC spokesperson Okor Odey revealed that another law enforcement agency has also taken up the case.
Citing Sections 3(14) and 27(3) of the ICPC Act, the agency emphasized that its probe would continue in line with its statutory mandate to ensure transparency, accountability, and public trust.
Engineer Farouk Ahmed stepped down from his role as CEO of NMDPRA shortly after the petition was filed, following a close-door meeting with president Tinubu.
