Democracy Day: #OurMumuDonDo By Akeem Durojaiye

It is only a foolish fellow that will expect different result doing things the same way. I have over 7hours engage myself in rigorous brain cracking in order to rationalize the DemoCrazy celebration.

But alas! Nothing to justify the illusion we were made to believe.

Which Democracy are we popping champagne for? I guess in my clan democracy has another meaning because what I see is a nation in captivity of retired but not tired military establishment. Where youth unemployment is practically at 70% and plum jobs are reserve for their children still schooling abroad with our money.

Where votes count and election free and fair only if they serve the interest of our ‘owners’. Where ordinary Local government primaries ended in fiasco.

Where education that suppose to be the bridge between the privileged and non-priviledged has been deliberately distorted and destroyed in order ensure we remain in bondage.

Frank Crane says, Democracy is run for the benefit of the people in it; Autocracy for the benefit of the people upon it. We can continue to pretend things are getting better from military era to assumed civil administration but one thing I am absolutely sure of is that though several achievements are brandish in the media now even the blind can see failures everywhere, no good road, no job, no prospect, no good health package, no safe home, no quality education and no level playing ground to achieve political aspiration. Most of our girls have turned prostitute and boys into 419ers and cultism. Our lives are being shattered in our face and our mumu continue.

Let’s continue to label one another with mumuish appendage whether nah wailer or hailer. I say #wehdonsir #wehdonMa.

To the sane mind, Nigerians need to start converging in non-political groups with the intention of re-shaping the future. #ourmumudondo
