Delta woman narrates how son tried to pluck her eyes for ritual

A Delta State woman, Mrs. Oke Eregarnoma, has narrated how she landed in the hospital after her son, Emmanuel, attempted to pluck out her eyes for ritual purpose.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 14, at Caroline Street, Okuokoko, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

The woman who narrated her ordeal to journalists from her hospital bed where she was recuperating,
said her son persuaded her to visit his house, on Caroline Street, Okuokoko, promising her a surprise package.

According to her, she saw Emma in an unusual joyous mood, after he welcomed her in. He then increased the volume of his musical gadgets, and she thought he was only rejoicing an achievement.

She explained that her son suddenly locked the door and made moves to strangle and pluck off her eyes, just as she screamed for help, adding that no one heard her due to the loud music.

Eregarnoma said after fighting with her son for some minutes, she regained her strength and ran outside for help, and neighbours came to her rescue.

She recalled that before the attack, her son boasted that β€œhe must drive GLK this week.”

Meanwhile, the suspect, Emma Eregarnoma, has since been arrested and detained at the Orerokpe Divisional Police headquarters, in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect is currently in custody.
