Deji Adeyanju places $10k bet on Peter Obi to lose 2023 election

Nigerian political activist, Deyi Adeyanju has caused a stir on social media after placing a bet of $10,000 that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi would be defeated at the 2023 elections.

Adeyanju, the convener of Concerned Nigerians, had publicly challenged one Mr. Ben, a staunch supporter of the LP flagbearer to a bet of the whooping sum.

The activist had predicted that Obi would emerge “distant 3rd” in the elections, despite the strong support he enjoys from young people on social media.

In a tweet on Monday, he disclosed that the sum of $10,000 had been paid into the account of media mogul and publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, alongside with a picture of the transaction receipt.

“$10k credited to Egbon @DeleMomodu’s account. Now waiting for Ben the Obidient to do his part. We don’t display fake cash on social media here. Still ready to bet more because I’m looking for money for my PhD. next year,” he wrote.

Momodu also confirmed the receipt of the money in a tweet.

“Confirmed, my dear Brother DEJI ADEYANJU… Awaiting Mr BEN to credit the account,” he said.

Meanwhile, Adeyanju earlier stated that the said Mr. Ben chickened out of the bet and failed to fulfil his part of the agreement.

He tweeted, “The Obedient guy, Ben is telling new stories now after agreeing on a call with Egbon Dele MOMODU and giving me the go ahead to pay the money in the Whatsapp group we created for this purpose. After displaying fake money online, the guy is suddenly afraid to perform. Pay up Ben!”
