Days After Shutting Varsity, VC Of University of Ibadan Attends Son’s Convocation In US

Barely two days after shutting out the entire students of University of Ibadan, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Abel Idowu Olayinka was seen attending the convocation of his son in far away United States of America.

Prof Olayinka was appointed as the 12th substantive Vice Chancellor of UI ahead of 12 others in December 2015 after the tenure of Professor Isaac Adewola (current Minister of Health). He is a Geologist.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the nation’s pioneer University was shut after a student protest. Apart from sending the students home, the University management also suspended all union sctivities in the institution.

Critics have since called out the university don for abandoning students of his own university, which he is also an alumni to celebrate with his son who is studying abroad.

    I don’t understand what this is all about.
    The man should’ve abandoned his son’s grad because UI has been shut down?
    Family is family over and above any job.

    I don’t know this man but pls, attending his son’s grad has nothing to do with what’s happening in UI abeggy.
