Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has stated that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi cannot become Nigeria’s president, making the remark during a televised interview that has since generated widespread reactions.

Bwala made the statement during an appearance on a political programme aired on News Central TV, where he criticised Obi’s political structure and national reach ahead of the 2027 elections.

In the interview, Bwala was emphatic about his position, saying:

“Peter Obi will never be president. He will never cross the Central Business District that will lead to Aso Villa.”

He also argued that Obi’s support base is largely driven by social media enthusiasm rather than grounded political structures across the country.

“The tigers on social media are Peter Obi’s followers… Peter Obi will never be president,” he added during the programme.

Bwala’s comments sparks different reactions online with many supporters saying that he remain strong contender in the presidential race.

Obi, who was a major contender in the 2023 presidential election, has remained a prominent opposition figure, enjoying strong backing among youths and urban voters.

The remarks have since sparked reactions online, particularly among Obi’s supporters, who have dismissed the claims and insisted that the former Anambra State governor remains a viable candidate for future elections.

As of the time of filing this report, Obi has not issued an official response to Bwala’s comments.
