DAAR Communications PLC, owners of Africa Independent Television (AIT), has debunked claims that its Lagos office was shut down, dismissing the report as “entirely unfounded.”

In response to a follow-up enquiry by a BlackBox Nigeria, the media company through its corporate head, Mr Collins Uwaeze, stated that the rumour does not reflect the current operational realities at the Lagos station.

“… the alleged ‘AIT Lagos closure’ story is entirely unfounded and does not reflect the current operational realities of DAAR Communications PLC,” the company wrote.

The clarification follows an earlier report published by different media suggesting that the station’s Lagos arm had ceased operations.

The recent disclaimer has challenged the status of that earlier produced stories.

DAAR Communications further urged media professionals to ensure factual reporting, warning against the amplification of “misleading or fictitious narratives.”

“We would appreciate accurate information flow, especially from credible media colleagues like your good self,” the statement added.

As of the time of this report, AIT Lagos continues to operate without any official notice of shutdown from the management.
