Crisis Brews In Ibeju-Lekki As Traditional Ruler Sacks Chief Imam, Youths Revolt

A religious crisis might be brewing in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State after the traditional ruler of Orimedu Land, HRM Amusa Atiku sacked the Chief Imam of the community over the sermon he gave last Friday.

An eyewitness, Adekunle Jinodu disclosed to BlackBox Nigeria that trouble started when the Imam preached about the ruling council selling lands obnoxiously to people without taking the development of the community into consideration.

The sermon was about N6,000,000 (Six Million naira) collected from a customer who purchased land from the community.

“Chief Daramola Baby face was the person who accused the Chief Imam and reported him to HRM immediately after the Sermon last Friday, “ he noted.

Not comfortable with the decision of the King, the youth protested to the Palace stating that they are in support of the Chief Imam’s speaking truth to power and that he will be the one to lead the Ileya Festival Prayer either the Palace Chiefs like it or not.
