COVID19: How Presidency Defy Social Distancing At Abba Kyari’s Burial
Earlier on Saturday, April 18th, 2020, the news of the death of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari hit the media and activities following his death has generated reactions on the social media.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the burial of Kyari who hails from Kanuri, Borno State was handled by the Presidency and officials of the National Centre for Disease Control but attendance at the Islamic rites is causing uproar from Nigerians as the social distancing directives given by the Federal government was not observed.
According to feeds from the Defense Guest House in Maitama where Islamic scholars observed the last prayers on the remains of Kyari to the Gudu District cemetery where he was buried, the crowd at both venues were above the 20-persons in a gathering as advised in the riot act read to Nigerians as the total lockdown continues in Lagos and FCT, Abuja.
The late Kyari was a board member of Unilever and Exxon Mobil. He was also an Executive Director at UBA and later became the Chief Executive Officer. Until his death, he was the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
