The Lagos State University has closed down all hostels in its College of Medicine, following the discovery that three students tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a statement by the Coordinator, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Ademola Adekoya, on Thursday, the institution said the roommates and associates of the affected students are being tested, adding that contact tracing has begun.
The statement further said that the hostel facilities were immediately closed for decontamination, saying all students of the College have been advised to proceed to their respective homes for the 14-day self-isolation where their status will be monitored.
“Any student showing symptoms at home are to contact the College through dedicated lines for necessary assistance/treatment.”
The University stated that it has provided treatment packs and psychological support to the three affected students as well as their roommates.
“Management also again enjoins all students, staff and the general public to take personal responsibility and continue to observe COVID-19 guidelines as the virus is real and deadly,” the statement added.
