The Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has said that twelve thousand, seven hundred and twenty persons in the state received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in 48 hours after the commencement of the vaccination exercise.
Abayomi made this known on Thursday, while giving the vaccination update as at March 16, via his verified Twitter account @ProfAkinAbayomi.
It would be recalled that the state government started vaccination on March 12 at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Yaba, with 88 other accredited centres in the 20 local government areas starting on March 15.
According to the commissioner, the category of persons vaccinated so far in the state include healthcare workers, other frontline workers and strategic leaders.
He disclosed that 3,442 healthcare workers (1,510 male and 1932 female) received the COVID-19 vaccine, and a total of 3,796 other frontline workers. 260 strategic leaders (144 male, 116 female) were also vaccinated.
